What is the Subject Matter of Christianity
Christianity is regarded as the dominant religion of the world in the 21st century.
It is a religion that is based on the life and teachings of Jesus Christ.
Although it is the most widely practiced religion in the world, it is broken down into different denominations sometimes referred to as sects.
Christianity is a religion which is centered on the teachings as well as the life of Jesus and one of its key beliefs is that Jesus is the son of God who came to the world in human form in fulfilment of several prophesies which are clearly stated in the scriptures.
In as much as there are several beliefs which are shared among all Christians, a lot more beliefs which are not accepted by different groups of Christians abound.
The existence of these various beliefs which not all Christian groups share is one of the reasons for the different sects that about in Christianity today.
Regardless of the fact that there are many beliefs held by different Christian groups, every Christian group agrees that the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ is the foundation of the Christian faith.
The resurrection and the death of Jesus Christ is also regarded as the most important event in Christianity.
This, therefore, implies that the doctrines of most Christian groups irrespective of their differences have this in common.
Jesus Christ was crucified like a common criminal and died physically, he was buried like every other dead person would be.
However, unlike anyone in the history of the world, Jesus Christ rose again and this marked the beginning of Christianity.
Before ascending into heaven, Jesus Christ appeared to his disciples severally both in different groups and as a large group of up to 500 people.
There are quite some reasons why the death and the resurrection of Jesus Christ are considered special events in Christianity.
Whilst a lot of these reasons are obvious, some of them are not very well known by some Christians.
Basically, some of the most important reasons why the death and the resurrection of Jesus Christ are considered very important to Christianity are: they stand as proof that Jesus Christ has all power including power over death and life and can give eternal life to people.

The subject matter of Christianity is simply living the life of Jesus Christ .
Christianity is all about Jesus Christ.
Although a lot of people, Christians and non Christians believe that Christianity is a religion, going by what the subject matter of Christianity is, it is quite glaring that Christianity is a lifestyle and not a religion.
Basically, religion is about ceremonies and rituals and Christianity is not about ceremonies at all, neither is it about rituals.
Now, you might ask, are there no ceremonies in Christianity?
Whilst it is absolutely true that there are ceremonies in Christianity, these ceremonies are not what Christianity is all about.
Religion, is all about man trying to get access to a supreme being and that is where rituals come into play.
Christianity, on the other hand is God reaching out to man. God did this by sending his son to reconcile man to him.
It is no news that Jesus Christ successfully fulfilled his purpose on earth.
Although his purpose on earth was fulfilled, it did not end there, the life of Jesus and the manner in which he lived on earth has was prolonged by his followers and this gave birth to Christianity.
Christianity is all about living like Christ and doing what he did while on earth.
It is about reconciling man to God. For anyone to refer to themselves as Christians, they have to be people that follow God through Jesus Christ and have surrendered their lives to his Lordship.
As soon as this is done, they no longer have the freedom to live for themselves.
Their lifestyle and the very essence of their being must be about doing what Christ would have them do.
The subject matter of Christianity can be summarized into five things. They are
Worship is man expressing his love for his maker and lord and that is exactly what Christ meant when he said “Thou shalt love the lord your God with all thy soul, with all thy heart and with all thy mind”.
In worship, the Christian is supposed to love God above every other thing that is in existence.
Spouse included. Worship involves seeking to honour God in all we do on a daily basis.
This involves our relationships, our company, and our activities.
God did not make us for us to exist alone. He made us to exist with him and this can be done through fellowship.
Fellowship also involves every Christian being a member of a local assembly where everyone can be supported both physically and spiritually.
With fellowship, the individuals which have the lifestyle of Jesus as their daily goals can be encouraged
There is always room to get to know Jesus better.
As Christians, our walk with Jesus Christ is progressive. It is one that does not have an end.
“Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, if ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed. And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
Christianity involves service to God and to man. Service is what ministry is all about.
While on the face of the earth, that was what the life of Jesus was all about.
“The King will reply, ‘I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me”
Jesus came to the earth to reconcile man to God.
He did this successfully and has therefore given everyone that he reconciled back to God the ministry of reconciliation.
This can only be done through preaching the word.
“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature”.
